Equipment selection starts with the freight, not the trailer name. Share the loading method, dimensions, weight, temperature requirements and any loading constraints so the shipment can be matched with an appropriate carrier and equipment type.

Common equipment categories

53' Dry Van

Commonly considered for enclosed, non-temperature-controlled freight loaded from a dock.

Reefer

Considered when the shipment requires controlled temperature.

Flatbed

Common for freight that must be loaded from the side or top, or does not fit inside an enclosed trailer.

Step Deck

Often considered for taller freight that needs a lower deck height.
