Match the equipment to the freight

Equipment selection starts with the freight, not the trailer name. Share the loading method, dimensions, weight, temperature requirements and any loading constraints so the shipment can be matched with an appropriate carrier and equipment type.

Common equipment categories

53' Dry Van

Commonly considered for enclosed, non-temperature-controlled freight loaded from a dock.

Reefer

Considered when the shipment requires controlled temperature.

Flatbed

Common for freight that must be loaded from the side or top, or does not fit inside an enclosed trailer.

Step Deck

Often considered for taller freight that needs a lower deck height.

Equipment availability and final suitability depend on the lane, freight specifications and carrier acceptance. This is general equipment education, not a confirmed ShipMay inventory — equipment is matched with qualified carriers based on shipment requirements.
What to send with the request: origin and destination, commodity, dimensions, weight, palletized or floor-loaded, equipment preference, pickup window and number of stops.
// Transportation is performed by FMCSA-authorized partner carriers; ShipMay provides the system, rate comparison, tender and coordination.
